Spiideo appoints former UEFA CEO as new board member and Sweden’s Country Director for Google as new advisory board member

Anna Wikland, Sweden Country Director for Google, has joined as an advisory board member, and Lars-Christer Olsson, former President of the European Leagues and former UEFA CEO has joined the Spiideo board, to help guide and accelerate global growth.

MALMO, SWEDEN: Spiideo (www.spiideo.com), the Sweden-born advanced video recording solution that enables sports organizations and teams around the world to automatically stream, record, and collect data on live sporting events, training, and performances, today announces the appointment of Lars-Christer Olsson as a board member, and Anna Wikland as an advisory board member to help guide the company’s strategy.

Lars-Christer joins Spiideo with an illustrious 30+ year career working in a number of highly influential roles in the football industry. From 2000, he lived in Switzerland and worked for UEFA as Director of Professional Football and Marketing before being appointed as CEO in 2004. Lars-Christer also brings board-level experience to the role following his advisory work for more than half a dozen companies and startups in his native country of Sweden. He formerly served as President of the European Professional Football Leagues, President of Svensk Elitfotboll (Swedish Professional Football League), and an Executive Committee Board Member for UEFA.

Anna comes with almost 20 years of experience from various leadership positions within the online space and works actively with supporting businesses to succeed and take advantage of the opportunities digitalization brings. Due to the exponential growth in sports broadcasting and performance analysis in recent years, and the global shutdown providing ample opportunities to create alternative revenue streams and fan engagement strategies, Spiideo has become an essential partner to teams, leagues, federations, and media partners connected with a wide range of sports and levels.

Spiideo’s customers include teams from the Premier League, Serie A, French Football Federation, more than half of the teams in Major League Soccer, NHL, NBA, the entire USL (United Soccer League), NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League) as well as an even wider array of football, rugby, ice hockey, field hockey, lacrosse, and basketball teams based all over the world.

Spiideo’s advanced technology has become an integral component for any side that is looking to increase performance levels, alter tactics or playing style, as well as improve recruitment strategy through automatic data collation and analysis. For media groups and broadcasters, Spiideo allows the automation of production across entire leagues, giving fans the chance to view their favorite teams by purchasing bespoke season packages. For smaller clubs and teams – the vast majority lacking TV contracts and having suffered a dip in income as a result of COVID attendance restrictions – Spiideo’s platform allows revenue generation through the streaming of live games to fans.

Ever since I became aware of Spiideo, I’ve firmly believed in the company’s mission to revolutionize the sports streaming space and make data analysis facilities accessible to teams, leagues and federations irrespective of budget, size or influence. Through low production costs, ease of use and the autonomy Spiideo’s technologies provide, the company is delivering this across a wide range of sports, regions and customers. By joining the Spiideo board, I hope to use my experience of working in various key decision-making roles in European football to further this mission and help Spiideo to change the sporting world for the better.

Lars-Christer Olsson Board member, Spiideo

I am delighted to be joining Spiideo, especially at a time when the sports analysis and streaming markets are both growing and evolving at such a rapid pace. Spiideo has already set itself apart from its competitors and is in a great position to grow and expand its market share. Having had the opportunity to lead at Google for more than seven years, I am excited to now share my expertise with the Spiideo team.
