From Manual Streams to Advanced Match Tagging

My relationship with the Philadelphia Union started pre-covid in 2019 at the U12 Generation Adidas Cup where we streamed all of their matches manually. That led to a 2020 trip to Brazil with the team. In 2022, U90HQ was invited to Austria/Germany and Italy to manually livestream all of their matches and training sessions. Fast forward to 2024, my company Upper90HQ was again invited on a month long trip with the same Philadelphia Union team (now U16).

During our planning of the trip the Union requested we provide the ability for their Staff to live tag the match for player actions. The Union use Spiideo at their home training facility and it was an easy strategy to implement. U90HQ then purchased 2 of the Portable 3 units for the trip and set out to film and provide the ability for the Union Staff to live tag each match.

In addition to using the Spiideo units we are also live streaming each match manually via a LiveU unit and filming each game with a drone for additional tactical analysis.

We have filmed 12 games thus far during our trip and have 3 more this week. We have played: Benfica, Deportivo Corona, Atletico Madrid, K.A.A. Gent, Athletico CP, GD Estoril Praia, Assciacao Torre, Rayo Vallecano, CD Toledo and Getafe – all filmed with the Spiideo Portable SmartCam 3.

The Spiideo Portable SmartCam 3 has been easy to travel with and is extremely durable. This is a great camera for traveling locally and internationally. The ease of use and set up allows the team to focus on the game knowing each game is captured and uploaded simultaneously. The Union Staff back in Philadelphia also has real time access to view and live tag each match. The staff has also been able to take the live tagging data and incorporate into their player evaluations and tactical analysis.

Coaching Education:

Upper90HQ also provides video services for 32 States for their USSF Coaching Education Courses (USSF B and C Licenses) and will start working with US Club Soccer and their Coaching Education department later in 2024. In 2024 they are poised to introduce the Spiideo Portable SmartCam 3 for their coaching education courses. The ability to use the Portable SmartCam 3 and the ability to connect a wireless microphone to the unit is the difference maker and why they will bring this latest technology to the U.S. Coaching Education platform.
