PARTNER ANNOUNCEMENT
Southern Conference Partners with Spiideo to Modernize Instant Replay
The Southern Conference (SoCon) has selected Spiideo as its instant replay technology partner for football, men’s basketball, and women’s basketball across the entire league.
Coaches, referees, replay technicians, and conference officials will have quick access to video from multiple angles to assess player performance and challenge decisions from officials within the context of the rules of their sport.
SoCon football will leverage Spiideo Replay’s Remote Collaboration capability. Live screen sharing and two-way audio capabilities will allow the replay booth and on-field officials to collaborate when assessing on-field rulings.
For men’s and women’s basketball, the SoCon will deploy BenchMode, putting live game footage directly in the hands of coaches during competition. Coaching staffs will utilize the tool to determine whether or not to challenge calls. Analysts can tag key moments in real time and push clips to a sideline tablet quickly and efficiently. During stoppages and halftime, curated playlists can be shared with the full staff, through cloud-based platforms, with no local-machine workflows or hardware to manage.
“The Southern Conference is proud to partner with Spiideo to bring their cloud-based replay technology to football and men’s and women’s basketball across our member institutions. This partnership extends service relationships that already existed in other sports across the SoCon,” said Michael Cross, Commissioner of the Southern Conference.
At a time when college athletics has never been more expensive, Spiideo’s cloud-native, AI-driven approach facilitate continuous technology evolution that adapts to ever-increasing replay expectations and more permissive on-field, on-court and in-game technology-based coaching tools. We're confident we've chosen a partner that will evolve right alongside those innovations.
“We’re excited to partner with SoCon to help coaches and officials in their work while delivering the reliability they need on game day,” said Matthew Delicate, Senior Vice President of North America for Spiideo. “The SoCon required a replay solution that combined modern technology and intuitive workflows with outstanding value. This partnership establishes a technology foundation that will enable SoCon’s athletic departments and conference office to embrace future innovation across the conference.”
